Anthony Canavan Sr.’s Son John Canavan Marries Anna Doyle
Editor’s Note: Before Joe moved on from John Canavan’s generation, I asked him whom John married. His wife, the mother of Anna Dolores Canavan, was Anna Doyle — and, as Joe explains, she was John’s first cousin. Anna’s mother was Honora Canavan Doyle, a sister of Anthony Canavan Sr., which makes Honora a daughter of the elder Anthony Canavan and his wife Catherine Kirby. With that connection sorted out, I asked Joe to bring the story back down to his grandparents, Anna Dolores Canavan and James Francis Hart.

JH: That was Anna Doyle.
WJB: Now, she also was a cousin of John’s, wasn’t she?
JH: They were first cousins.
WJB: Explain that relationship.
JH: Her mother was Honora Doyle, Honora Canavan Doyle. She was Anthony Canavan Sr.’s sister.
WJB: Ah, so she was a daughter of Anthony Canavan Sr.’s father, Anthony Canavan, and Catherine Kirby, his wife.
JH: Yes.
WJB: All right. Okay. So now you can get me back down to your grandparents.
JH: Yeah.
