JC: He was a man with a black beard. And Lizzie Rector, you know, knew him when she was young. She lived in his home while she was teaching school. In those days, instead of paying the teachers cash, they would give her room and board while they taught in the local schools. He was married to Lizzie Rector after the death of Aunt Kate Parish.

WJB: Aunt Kate, of course, was your mother’s sister.

JC: Mm-hmm. And then they had the —

WJB: And Aunt Kate married a Parish. So —

JC: His name was W.W. Parish. And he died at the age of, I think, 87 or so. But he did marry again after Aunt Kate died — married this Lizzie Rector, you see. Lizzie Rector, incidentally, was some kind of a cousin on — it’s hard for me to remember.
