Gus and Julia are certainly at the top of the list of people in my life I most admire, and have looked up to and respected. They were in love, passionate about the arts, and committed and hardworking on behalf of people less fortunate than themselves. Even though coming from modest backgrounds, they became well-rounded in their education and never forgot that others hadn’t had the same luck along the way. Gus was a brilliant lawyer and a brilliant man, and beyond that, a true Renaissance man, broad in his knowledge and his interests. Julia was a wonderful mother and a multi-talented, scholarly woman, who threw herself, alongside Gus, into saving Poetry magazine and countless other worthy battles besides. I loved and admired them both to pieces.
