Editor’s Note: The still picture above was taken in Palos Park, Illinois by my mother Mary Gwinn Bowe in 1935. It shows my father, William John Bowe, Sr., with his arms around his mother, Ellen Canavan Bowe and her sister, Catherine Canavan Parish. Also present is Catherine Parish’s husband, William Wallace Parish, Jr. and their sons, Anthony M. Parish and William Joseph Parish.
The children in the picture are Julie Anne Bowe (Thompson), her brother John Edward Bowe and Raymond Bowe Walters. These are the first three grandchildren of Ellen Bowe. Julie Anne and John are the children of Ellen’s son Augustine Joseph Bowe and Julia Lecour Bowe, and Raymond is the child of Ellen’s daughter Anna Bowe Walters and Raymond Joseph Walters.
