Editor’s Note: Charley Bowe arranged to host the party at the Wilmette Harbor Club and he and June arranged the decorations with Tony and Nancy Bowe. Charley recalled that I was his godfather, in a good way, and that I once impressed children by briefly driving a memorable, if secondhand, vintage 1957 220S Mercedes convertible.
