Bill Bowe, Sr. Is Injured in France in World War I

Editor’s Note: Bill Bowe’s father had joined the Illinois National Guard when he graduated in 1915 from Loyola University Law School in Chicago. When President Woodrow Wilson called the National Guard into federal service. Bill Bowe, Sr. was off to France in the Quartermaster Corps. In short order, he was injured, underwent a foot amputation, and sat out the rest of the War in several French hospitals.
