Editor’s Note: I got to know Jan Grayson when he and his friend Jon Laing were pursuing their MBA degrees at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Founded in 1898, Chicago Booth is the second-oldest business school in the U.S., and is associated with 9 Nobel laureates in economics. That always surprised me about Jan, since I have never known him to be able to balance his checkbook.
