Editor’s Note: It was snowing outside the evening of February 24, 2023, but inside it was warm and cozy for another performance of Live Jazz At The Cliff Dwellers. With Thaddeus Tukes on vibraphone and Paul Asaro on piano, the pair offered their take on Softly as in a Morning Sunrise, a Sigmund Romberg, Oscar Hammerstein II song from the 1928 operetta The New Moon. Listening to their rendition reminds us of why this song is such a jazz classic.
