Je suis n\u00e9 ici m\u00eame, \u00e0 Chicago, et j\u2019ai toujours v\u00e9cu \u00e0 Chicago \u2014 tout comme les gar\u00e7ons Bowe \u2014 <\/p>\n<p><strong>WJB :<\/strong> Vous arrivait-il de vous retrouver l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 ?<\/p>\n<p><strong>JC :<\/strong> Oh, nous les voyions souvent. Nous allions leur rendre visite \u2014 nous avions un cheval et une cal\u00e8che \u2014 et quand j\u2019avais, disons, six ans, nous y allions deux fois par semaine pour voir les Bowes, qui habitaient sur l\u2019avenue Albany. Vous souvenez-vous d\u2019Albany ?  <\/p>\n<p><strong>WJB :<\/strong> Eh bien, je me souviens\u2026 \u00c9tait-ce dans le \u00ab Near West Side \u00bb ? Car je me souviens d\u2019Ashland Avenue : c\u2019est sur Ashland, juste au nord de North Avenue, que Gus Bowe est n\u00e9. Et mon p\u00e8re [William John Bowe, Sr.] est n\u00e9 juste \u00e0 l&rsquo;est d&rsquo;Ashland, sur Superior. Puis je me souviens qu&rsquo;ils ont habit\u00e9 pr\u00e8s de Lake Street pendant un certain temps. Je ne sais pas exactement quand ils ont v\u00e9cu \u00e0 Albany.    <\/p>\n<p><strong>JC :<\/strong> Eh bien, ils ont fini par\u2026 Apr\u00e8s le d\u00e9c\u00e8s de grand-p\u00e8re [Moses] Bowe, chacun de ses petits-enfants a re\u00e7u la somme qui lui \u00e9tait due. Il y avait donc de l\u2019argent \u00e0 verser \u00e0 Bill, Gus et Anna. <\/p>\n<p><strong>JC :<\/strong> D&rsquo;o\u00f9 ?<\/p>\n<p><strong>WJB :<\/strong> De la part de grand-p\u00e8re Bowe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>JC :<\/strong> Du c\u00f4t\u00e9 d&rsquo;Ellen ?<\/p>\n<p><strong>WJB :<\/strong> Grand-p\u00e8re Bowe, c&rsquo;est de lui dont je parle en ce moment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>JC :<\/strong> Ah, donc il s&rsquo;agissait de John\u2026 le p\u00e8re de John Joseph Bowe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WJB :<\/strong> Le p\u00e8re de John Bowe, en effet. C&rsquo;\u00e9tait donc lui l&rsquo;agriculteur de Peotone, dans le comt\u00e9 [de Will, dans l&rsquo;Illinois] ? <\/p>\n<p><strong>JC :<\/strong> Oui. Et il a laiss\u00e9 une ferme de taille respectable, si j\u2019ai bien compris \u2014 je n\u2019ai pas eu de d\u00e9tails \u00e0 ce sujet. Mais, pour une raison quelconque, ils ont suspendu le versement de cette somme jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce que chacun des trois enfants Bowe atteigne sa majorit\u00e9. Et gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cet argent, ils ont pu, je suppose, r\u00e9unir la somme n\u00e9cessaire pour verser l\u2019acompte sur l\u2019immeuble de deux appartements situ\u00e9 au 3320 Fulton Street.   <\/p>\n<p><strong>WJB :<\/strong> Oh, oui.<\/p>\n<p><strong>JC :<\/strong> Et avant de s&rsquo;installer l\u00e0-bas, ils habitaient dans un immeuble situ\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;angle d&rsquo;Albany et de Fulton Street. John [Canavan] \u00e9tait alors l\u2019a\u00een\u00e9\u2026 non, en fait non, c\u2019\u00e9tait le deuxi\u00e8me fils a\u00een\u00e9 ; c\u2019\u00e9tait un agriculteur qui \u00e9tait parti s\u2019installer dans l\u2019Iowa, et il \u00e9tait mari\u00e9 \u00e0 une femme nomm\u00e9e Anne [Canavan] Doyle. Or, Anne Doyle \u00e9tait une cousine Canavan : elle \u00e9tait la fille d\u2019Anthony Canavan et de son \u00e9pouse, Catherine Kirby, et la s\u0153ur de ma grand-m\u00e8re [Ann Hughes].  <\/p>\n<p><strong>WJB :<\/strong> Ellen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>JC :<\/strong> Oui\u2026 On a toujours appel\u00e9 Ellen\u2026 C&rsquo;est donc votre tante Elle ?<\/p>\n<p><strong>WJB :<\/strong> On appelait toujours tante Ellie\u2026 Comment l&rsquo;appelait-on d\u00e9j\u00e0 ?<\/p>\n<p><strong>JC :<\/strong> Lib ?<\/p>\n<p><strong>WJB :<\/strong> Non, c&rsquo;est ses enfants qui l&rsquo;appelaient ainsi.
